Contact your Ranger Recruiter LNO stationed at your AIT/OSUT and ask them for a volunteer statement. We have LNOs at the following AIT/OSUT stations:

Ft. Moore; Ft Huachuca; Ft Sill; Ft Gordon; Ft Jackson; Ft Lee.

Assuming you meet all the minimum entry requirements AND you sign a volunteer statement, you will have an opportunity to attend RASP. If you pass RASP, you will receive all the same financial benefits/bonuses associated with the Option 40 contract.

GT scores are waiverable on a case-by-case basis. Send a copy of your STP to 75recruit@socom.mil or contact your Ranger Recruiting LNO at your AIT/OSUT and ask if you’re eligible. In the meantime, you should enroll in a FAST class to boost your GT score. Even if you are hired with less than a 105 GT score, the expectation of the Ranger Regiment is you improve your GT score to a 105 or above within 18 months of assignment.

If your 4187 is still pending signatures, but you have a signed LOR from that Officer, YES, you may submit your application packet, but you will still owe us the 4187. The same works in reverse (if you have a signed 4187 but are still waiting on your LOR). If you have neither document signed, your application packet will be rejected as incomplete.

Yes, you need at a minimum a Secret clearance.

The Ranger Regiment looks for a minimum utilization of 18-24 months from our Officers. If attending your next Professional Military Education—usually CCC or ILE—would prevent you from serving at least 18 months of utilization; your application may be rejected as “insufficient utilization.” Since everyone’s career path is unique, talk with a Ranger Recruiter and your Assignment Officer to receive specified guidance.

Yes; though out MTOE does not have specific billets for Armor officers we still routinely assess and hire Armor Officers. Armor Officers fulfill many of the same roles as Infantry Officers in the Regiment.

There is no specific formula but here are some steps that may help: Earn a Ranger Tab; pursue leadership opportunities early and often in operational units, and excel at those positions; attend schooling focused on developing skills relevant to your Branch/MOS and of potential use in the Ranger Regiment (examples: RSLC, IMLC, Jumpmaster, UMO, TC-AIMS, SHARP, RESILIENCY, etc.); educate yourself on those related to your Branch/MOS; seek feedback from peers, subordinates and superiors; and continually accept challenges and grow from every success and failure.

You should submit your application for positions within your current branch and may also seek out positions in your future branch if openings are available. We will help determine which role you’ll serve in the Regiment.

All 11As, 13As, and 19As, must have a Ranger Tab to apply. All other Officers and Warrant Officers do not need a Ranger Tab to apply.

You should have at least 12 months’ time on station before you consider options for PCS Also, be aware that if you have RFO for a follow on assignment, you may not be eligible to apply to the 75th Ranger Regiment.

Based on the strength of your file and your previous service in the Career Field (ie.- 92Y earns an appointment to 920A) select candidates will be invited to attend RASP 2 shortly before or after WOCS/WOBC. If successful, we will work with your Assignment Officer to make the Ranger Regiment your next assignment. Other interested NCOs heading to WOCS/WOBC whose file or timing doesn’t work out can apply IAW our recruiting guidance while serving in a unit following WOCS/WOBC.

You will have to contact your losing service human resource / personnel command and the Army Human Resource Command to get these answers. The Regiment has no part in service transfers.

A record of superior performance as captured in your AERs (Commandant’s List, Exceeded Course standards, Honor Graduate) Evaluations (Majority “Top Blocks” ACOM / MQ, specific enumeration in Senior Rater comments, potential to serve in the next grade) and Letters of Recommendation (strongly worded examples of distinguished performance/ potential, personal interaction with the candidate).

Yes. We have non-flying positions for CPTs and MAJs on the Regimental Staff. This is a new addition in 2020. Please contact 75officerrecruit@socom.mil immediately if you’re an interested CPT or MAJ 15A.

In very rare and specific circumstances, we will identify talented Support/Enabling branch Officers in their BOLC class for early sequencing into RASP 2. Less than 5 candidates per year are assessed in this manner and most are prior service, Ranger qualified 2LTs that demonstrated distinguishable service during their enlisted tenure.

Several Support/Enabling branches (examples include MI, SC, LG, CM) manage programs often referred to as the Ranger Regiment Pipelines. Based on manpower projections and operational needs, representatives from each of these branches will identify talented officers at specific BOLC or CCC classes and conduct physical assessment and screening interviews. Specially selected officers will be given an opportunity to attend Ranger School and RASP 2 for potential assignment to the Regiment.
