After 5 years and 4 months, Captain Robert Patterson will retire from active service as a Ranger in the 75th. A formal retirement and change of command ceremony will take place on the 75th's private Teamspeak server at 2000Z (3PM EST) on Saturday April 3rd, 2010. First Lieutenant Shayne Hesler will step up in CPT Patterson's place and become the fifth Commander of the 75th Ranger Regiment.
CPT Patterson enlisted in the 75th on November 20th, 2004 and was assigned to the 21st Tango Training Squad. He graduated with Honors on December 12th. His first combat posting was the Bravo Squad Bastards, where he served as a Ranger and Fireteam Leader. On July 4th, 2005, then SGT Patterson was installed as the Squad Leader of the new Delta Bad Boys squad. A sudden deployment of the company's First Sergeant saw SGT Patterson bumped up to lead 2nd Platoon, which he did until late September of 2005, when he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant and put in command of the Alpha Company Nightstalkers.
As Alpha Company Commander, 2LT Patterson coalesced the North American AA players into a cohesive fighting unit, and instituted a Company wide ladder, which saw the 75th win its first ever #1 in TWL. He also developed the careers of many Rangers who went on to lead with distinction, and improved the leadership training for the Company and Regiment as a whole. He held the reins of A Company for over 10 months.
In May of 2006, he was promoted to Major a...

NEAR LASHKAR GAH, Afghanistan — U.S. Army soldiers launched a major operation Tuesday in support of a planned U.S.-Afghan attack on the largest Taliban-controlled town in southern Afghanistan.

USASOC PAO: Today the 75th Ranger Regiment began a series of delicate missions somewhere in eastern Afghanistan at the direction of USASOC and the CJTF. The details are classified, but the missions are aimed at improving relationships with local tribal leadership and stemming the flow of money and opium that funds the Taliban. The Rangers will be operating in some cases in conjunction with Soldiers from the 3rd Infantry Division.
Camp Gentry was locked down, and no vehicle traffic could be seen entering or leaving the main gate, though the helicopter traffic around the base has been very high. More details as we receive them. |

Wednesday, February 3rd, is the 7th Anniversary of the founding of the 75th Ranger Regiment. We were founded by Spencer Fontaine and David Kinnear when America's Army was barely one year old. Neither of our two founders knew the scope of what was to come, but without their efforts, and those who came along later, we wouldn't be here.
*Salutes* to MAJ Kinnear (RET) and CPT Fontaine (RET). Here's to another 7 years! |
